D60 Crochet

Gathered Headband/Ear Warmer

Yarn: Arcane Fibre works, Dk yarn, 100 m/110 yards (50g)Color: Fire and Ash, Stylecraft, Life Dk, 145m/150 yards (50g): Color: 2305 Cardinal and 2312 Copper

Materials: US Size I/9 (5.50 mm) and K/10.5 (6.5 mm) crochet hooks, yarn needle, scissors, measuring tape

Finished Size: 19 ½” (49.5 cm) around by 3 ½” (9 cm) wide

Abbreviations and Stitches (U.S. Terms): beg – beginning, ch(s) – chain(s), sc – single crochet, hdc-half double crochet, rnd(s) – round(s), st(s)– stitch(s), yo – yarn over

Special Stitches: BLhdc- yo, insert your hook into the back loop, yo and pull up a loop, yo and pull through all three loops on the hook.

BLsc- insert your hook into the back loop, yo and pull up a loop, yo and pull through the two loops on hook.

Notes: This headband is worked in the round and with two strands of yarn held together the K-10.5 (6.5 mm) crochet hook is used for the beg ch only, use the I-9 (5.50 mm) for rnds 1-9

Ch-1 does not count as a st

INSTRUCTIONS:

Using K-10.5 (6.5mm) crochet hook and two strands of yarn held together, chain 63, join the chain to form a circle, by working a sl st in beg ch, be careful not to twist the chain.

Rnd 1: Using the I-9 (5.50 mm), ch 1, sc in each ch around, join to beg sc. (63 sc)

Rnd 2: BLhdc in the first st, place a stitch marker in the same st (this marks the beg of the round), BLhdc in each st around, join to beg BLhdc. (63 BLhdc)

Rnd 3-8: Repeat rnd 2 (63 BLhdc), make sure to move the stitch marker up for each round

Rnd 9: Ch 1, BLsc in each st around, join to the beg sc, finish off leaving a 12” (30.5 cm) tail for gathering. (63 BLsc)

Finishing:

Thread the 12” (30.5 cm) yarn tail on the yarn needle, pinch together the headband in the area where the rounds were joined, sew through the gathered area 2 to 3 times, tie off.

Weave in the ends.

Add a button or other decorative items over the gathered area for a finished look.
