Anytime Beanie

Difficulty: Easy

Yarn: 1 skein Lion brand-LB Collection Anya #201 Bluegrass Festival or 1 skein of Stylecraft Special Dk yarn in various colors or any size 3 Dk yarn 

Materials: US Size J/10 (6.0mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors

Size:  Medium Adult Beanie- to fit 20-23” circumference

Large Adult Beanie- to fit 24-26” circumference

Note: if you wish to make the beanie to fit a larger head size, increase the crown rounds by one round and if you wish to make it fit a smaller head decrease the crown rounds.

Gauge: 14 hdc and 16 rows = 4” (10.16 cm)

Stitch Guide: ch(s) – chain(s), dc – half double crochet, sc-single crochet st(s) – stitch(es), RS – right side,

Special Stitches: Reverse Sc (Crab stitch)-insert hook in the next stitch to the right, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through the 2 loops on the hook.

Notes: The ch-2 at the beginning of each row does not count as a st.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Medium Adult Beanie

Make a magic ring.

Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 2, 8 hdc in the ring, join to first hdc.  (8 hdc)

Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 hdc in the next st and in each st around, join to first stitch.  (16 hdc)

Rnd 3: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next st; repeat from * around, join to first stitch. (24 hdc)

Rnd 4: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 2 st; repeat from * around, join to first stitch.  (32 hdc)

Rnd 5: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 3 st; repeat from * around, join to first stitch.  (40 hdc)

Rnd 6: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 4 st; repeat from * around, join to first stitch.  (48 hdc)

Rnd 7: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 5 st; repeat from * around, join to first stitch.  (56 hdc)

Rnd 8: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 6 st; repeat from * around, join to first stitch.  (64 hdc)

Rnd 9: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 7 st; repeat from * around, join to first stitch.  (72 hdc)

(*at this point the crown should measure 6.25 in ( 15.8 cm))

Rnd 10: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, join to first st.  (72 hdc)

Rnds 11-24: repeat round 10. (72 hdc)

Rnd 25: Ch 1, reverse sc in each st around, join to beginning st, fasten off.  (72 reverse sc)

Weave in ends

Large Adult Beanie

Make a magic ring.

Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 2, 8 hdc in the ring, join to first hdc.  (8 hdc)

Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 hdc in the next st and in each st around, join to first stitch. (16 hdc)

Rnd 3: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next st; repeat from * around, join to first stitch.  (24 hdc)

Rnd 4: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 2 st; repeat from * around, join to first stitch. (32 hdc)

Rnd 5: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 3 st; repeat from * around, join to first stitch. (40 hdc)

Rnd 6: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 4 st; repeat from * around, join to first stitch.  (48 hdc)

Rnd 7: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 5 st; repeat from * around, join to first stitch.  (56 hdc)

Rnd 8: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 6 st; repeat from * around, join to first stitch.  (64 hdc)

Rnd 9: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 7 st; repeat from * around, join to first stitch.  (72 hdc)

Rnd 10: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 8 st; repeat from * around, join to first stitch.  (80 hdc)

(*at this point the crown should measure 7 in ( 17.8 cm))

Rnd 11: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, join to first st. (80 hdc)

Rnds 12-28: repeat round 10. (80 hdc)

Rnd 28: Ch 1, reverse sc in each st around, join to beginning st, fasten off.  (80 reverse sc)
