Basket of Scrubbies
Yarn: CEWEC/CPH recycled jeans yarn, 2-50gm skeins per set (5 scrubbies and a basket), colors used #28, #33, #34 or any size 2 yarn
Tools: US Size G-6 (4mm) crochet hook for scrubbies and US Size H-8 (5mm) crochet hook for basket, yarn needle, scissors, measuring tape
Finished Size: scrubbies- 3-½” (8.89 cm), mini basket- 4” (10 cm) around by 1-¾“ (4.5 cm) high
Abbreviations and Stitches (U.S. Terms): beg – beginning, ch(s) – chain(s), dc- double crochet, hdc- half double crochet, rep – repeat, sc – single crochet, st(s)– stitch(s),
Special Stitches: Dc3tog (dc cluster)- yarn over and insert hook in the next st, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, repeat 2 more times, yarn over and pull through the 4 remaining loops on the hook.
Hdc2tog- (yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and pull up loop) 2 times, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook.1 stitch decreased.
Reverse sc (rsc): working from left to right, insert hook from front to back in next st to the right, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook.
Notes: The scrubbies were made holing two strands of yarn were held together.
The basket is made holding 3 strands of yarn together, ch-2 counts as a stitch
Face scrubbies can be washed in the washer on cold setting in a garment bag and left out to air dry.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Face Scrubbies
Holding 2 strands of yarn together, make a magic ring (magic circle)
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 7 hdc in the circle, join to beg ch-2. (8 hdc)
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc2 tog in same st as join, ch 1, *dc3tog in the next st, ch 1; rep from * around, join to beg ch-3. (8 dc3tog, 8 ch-1 sps)
Rnd 3: Ch1, * sc in the top of the dc3tog, 2 sc in the ch-1 sp; rep from * around, join. (24 sc)
Rnd 4: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, join. (24 hdc)
Rnd 5: Ch 1, * sc, 2 hdc, sc, in the next st, sk next st; rep from * around, join. (12 sc, 2 hdc, sc groups)
Fasten off, weave in the ends and steam block with the iron, use cotton setting.
Mini Basket:
Holding 3 strands of yarn together, make a magic ring (magic circle)
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 9 hdc in the circle, join to beg ch-2. (10 hdc)
Rnd 2: Ch 2, 1 hdc in the same sp as join, 2 hdc in each st around, join to beg ch-2. (20 hdc)
Rnd 3: Ch 2, 2 hdc in the next st, *hdc in the next st, 2 hdc in the next st; rep from * around, join to beg ch-2. (30 hdc)
Rnd 4: Ch 2, 2 hdc in the next st, *hdc in the next 2 sts, 2 hdc in the next st; rep from * around, join to beg ch-2. (40 hdc)
Rnd 5: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, join. (40 hdc)
Rnd 6: Rep round 5
Rnd 7: Ch 2, * hdc in the next 8 sts, Hdc2tog; rep from * around, join. (36 hdc)
Rnd 8: Ch 1, reverse sc around, join. (36 reverse sc)
Fasten off and weave in ends
