There’s something about France that makes even the simplest things feel special.
During my trip to France, I found myself noticing the little details everywhere, the beautiful colors, the effortless way people put an outfit together, and how one simple accessory can completely change the look. A scarf draped around the neck, tied to a handbag, or simply adding a splash of color to an otherwise simple outfit can make such a difference.
That feeling was part of the inspiration behind my Sweet Petite Scarf.
I wanted to create a small, lightweight scarf that would be easy to crochet but still add a little something special to an outfit. Nothing too complicated or fussy, just a pretty handmade accessory that could bring a touch of color and personality wherever you go.
One of my favorite things about this scarf is how much you can change its personality simply by changing the yarn color.
Choose a soft neutral for a classic, understated look. Pick a beautiful jewel tone for a little drama, or choose a bright, cheerful color when your outfit needs a pop of color. You could even make one in several different colors so you always have one to match your mood!
The Sweet Petite Scarf is also a wonderful way to use a small amount of that special sport or fine-weight yarn you may have been saving for just the right project.
The scarf is worked from end to end using half double crochet. If you’re a beginner, don’t let the shaping scare you, the pattern takes you through the increases and decreases step by step.
And sometimes those are my favorite kinds of projects: simple enough to enjoy while relaxing with your crochet, but with a finished result that makes you smile when you put it on.
At approximately 34 inches long after blocking, it’s a petite little accessory that can be worn in different ways. And if you prefer a longer scarf, the pattern includes instructions for adjusting the length.
I don’t think you have to travel all the way to France to bring a little French-inspired style into your everyday life.
Sometimes it can be as simple as putting on your favorite outfit, adding a beautiful scarf, and heading out the door feeling just a little more put together.
